'tween the clouds, atop the highest mountain peak, the discarded child wept in her woven basket. breathing upon death, her soul lay discovered by the tempest dragon lord, shenlong. he saw in her spirit much potential, bestowing her with a fraction of his life essence. shénhuà, from that day forth, became a student of the tempest.the godling adored her adoptive father; her birth parents, a subject of speculation, but undoubtedly she was born of another god. through centuries of training, shénhuà attained the title of shenlong's eventual usurper. "a tempest dragon," shenlong writes, "remains a fledgling until her thousandth year of life. she must compose herself; steady as rock. soar above; free as sky. for her mood changes weather and emboldens cloud. until she awakens, the little godling shall find herself under infinite tutelage. thirst for knowledge. seek power."near three years ago, shenlong was felled by the other dragon lords. they beseeched the weather god to still his ever-changing temperament as shenlong's wrath flooded the human lands. he mourned the loss of a dear friend, and yet, he could not be afforded to lament. shenlong was slain before his pupil's very eyes; 'pon his dying breath, he bequeathed to shénhuà the entirety of his remaining life essence. the world endured largely unchanged, but the day birthed a new awakening: shenlong's successor. the new lord of skies and commander of weather - still insignificant and weak until her thousandth birthday. she is a woman who exceeds mortal standard, but pales in comparison to the might of the gods. since her father's death, shénhuà resolved to walk the mortal plane in search for a new teacher and master for servitude. still a little bird, she has much to learn.
